For our Headroom Heads series, we sat down with Jenny Suergiu, who will share her Headroom story with you.

When did your EA journey start, and how?

I’ve been with Headroom for the past two years. Initially, I was looking for a job that offered more flexibility and room for professional growth. After some searching, I found that Headroom was the perfect fit for what I was looking for. It’s been an exciting journey that allows me to keep learning while working with incredible members and colleagues.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Headroom?

I have several years of work experience, but the past two years at Headroom have been incredibly enriching. In most roles, working for a single company narrows your focus to one specific environment. However, at Headroom, I have the opportunity to support multiple members and CEOs from diverse companies. This variety keeps the job both interesting and dynamic, constantly challenging me to learn and grow. What I enjoy most is getting to know each member and their business, building strong relationships along the way. It’s incredibly rewarding to end the day knowing I’ve made a positive impact on their busy schedules.

As an executive assistant, what do you find most rewarding about supporting CEOs in their day-to-day operations?

What I enjoy most about assisting my members is the opportunity to connect with them and their teams, giving me the chance to engage with a diverse range of people from different companies and around the world. This variety keeps the role both interesting and enjoyable. I also find great satisfaction in making a meaningful difference for my members, whether it’s helping them regain focus or assisting with personal tasks.

What are some skills you believe every executive assistant should have, and how do you continuously improve those skills?

Strong organization, clear communication, time management, and proactivity are essential skills for any EA. Managing multiple tasks at once without stress requires staying organized and prioritizing effectively. Proactivity is crucial, an EA should always anticipate needs and plan ahead. Equally important is communication, ensuring alignment and a smooth workflow. I continually refine these skills by being open to feedback and seeking ways to improve my processes.

You’ve been working closely with different entrepreneurs and high-achieving individuals: what’s the secret sauce to a successful Executive – EA partnership? What’s a non-negotiable?

I believe the key to a successful collaboration between an EA and their member is built on clear and regular communication, mutual trust, and a strong understanding of priorities. Consistent and open communication keeps everyone aligned, while trust ensures that members can rely on tasks being handled efficiently without constant supervision. To achieve this, the EA must have a deep understanding of the team’s goals and the specific needs of each member. Flexibility is equally important, as EAs must adapt to shifting priorities, last-minute requests, and changing workflows, while remaining calm and organized.

How do you prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a role that often demands multitasking and quick decision-making? What is your secret productivity hack?

I start each day by reviewing my to-do list and prioritizing tasks based on deadlines, importance, and urgency. I use our Workspace to categorize tasks, focusing on what truly matters. Blocking specific times in my calendar helps minimize distractions and maintain focus, while also allowing flexibility for last-minute changes. If urgent tasks come up, I reassess my priorities and adjust my schedule as needed to ensure that important deadlines are still met. One of my key tips for members is to schedule dedicated focus time in their calendars, which can vary based on their needs. This is typically one of the first topics I discuss with new members.Additionally, I ensure to block out time for a daily lunch break and consider blocking time for sports or allowing them to log off early to spend time with family and friends.

Where do you see Headroom in 10 years?

I look forward to seeing continued growth in the coming years, welcoming more amazing colleagues and interesting companies and CEOs who can benefit from added structure in their busy schedules!

Collaboration is key in any workplace. How do you maintain strong relationships with colleagues, especially while working remotely?

As a remote-first company, staying connected with my colleagues can be challenging. Fortunately, we foster strong relationships through virtual coffee dates and by regularly supporting each other with tasks, keeping the team dynamic and collaborative.
